Graco Car Seat

I recieved this car seat today and am very pleased. Had a little bit of a problem with the canopy however. It comes with two sets of canopy attachment parts. They kinda sent me 3 correct attachment pieces and one wrong one but I was able to figure out a way to put them together anyway (and done in a safe manner). I was expecting it to be brown and a little bit of a pinker color. It's more like brown and a burnt orange color. Still very cute. The material is VERY breathable and durable. Looks like it's easy to clean as well. When you want to adjust the straps, you don't have to go through the back anymore like the car seat I bought by Graco in 2007. It's right on the seat itself below the buckle in the middle of the legs. I really like that part. Overall a great seat. Can't wait till my daughter is born in April 2010 so we can bring her home. Also bought the Zarafa double stroller. Hasn't arrived yet but very excited.

As a first-time parent I've come to terms with the fact that not all products fit every baby, and not every baby is meant to fit all products. As parents you all know that you can't wait for your child to arrive to find the perfect car seat. So if you are trying to find the "perfect" seat, you might as well buy several - 1 to bring your child home from the hospital, and then the 2nd one after he/she has arrived, and every time your child gets a growth spurt.

So with that said, this car seat works perfectly fine with my baby, even if it hasn't worked for others' babies. It's lightweight, and easy to use and install. We did have a state trooper install and inspect the installation of the car seat in one of our cars. I highly recommend it as the state trooper made some adjustments because of our bucket seats in the car - they were at a bad angle which made our infant tilt a bit too much forward in the rear-facing seat. Yes, the car seat cover is not the best material ever, but it works. If you are a parent, you know spit ups and accidents happen, so a more plastic type cover makes for easier cleaning. As for the whole sweaty baby thing, of course the poor thing will get sweaty. Even when I sit on stuff (breathable or not), I can get sweaty depending on what I'm wearing, the temperature, etc. So just be mindful of the temperature or environment.

Our infant was also on the smaller side, so we had to invest in some additional inserts to help keep his head from moving side to side. I noticed there were tons of complaints about the handle on this seat. It isn't the best, so I definitely agree with the rest of the reviews. But our instructor at our parenting class made a very good point. She said you shouldn't carry a car seat, with a baby in it, by the handle. It's bad for you because not only does it tweak your back, but you can risk injury to your arm, wrist, etc. She recommended carrying the baby by the car seat itself, like a laundry basket. Not always easy to do, but definitely worth remembering.

By the way, good luck! Picking stuff for someone who you've never met isn't the easiest thing to do!

We purchased this car seat on a recommendation from a friend for our second car. We had received a Safety 1st convertible seat at our shower (we didn't register for it) and have been using that in our main vehicle. This car seat blows the Safety 1st out of the water! This one is super easy to adjust without removing the seat from the car, the multi padding helps to get a tailored fit. Our son is a little on the lean side, so the extra padding makes it a more secure fit for him. The plushness of this seat makes me want to ride in it. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Hands down the best convertible car seat out there! Don't waste your money on anything else.

Another review from someone who hasn't actually used this with a baby yet...but I have already purchased it, based on my researching strollers for almost a year via online reviews and in-store experimenting. There are a lot of great strollers out there that cost big bucks, but I wasn't willing to pay 0+ for a stroller. I love this one because it's lightweight and has a slightly-narrower wheel base than most of the other stroller systems I tried out (this stroller weighs 19 lbs, compared to the 28-33 lb ones I was trying out), and is VERY easily maneuvered with one hand. The color scheme is gender-neutral. BRU has it for about more in a grey and yellow scheme. I like the Strata, which is what I purchased. It's very pretty, and the aqua is just slightly brighter than pictured -- not garish at all, and aqua enough to not automatically scream "baby-boy pastel blue!"

My favorite part about this stroller is that the handle swivels so that you can push the baby facing you, or facing outward. Most the travel systems let the baby face you when they're in the snap-on infant carrier, but unless you go really pricey, it's hard to find one that lets the kid face you once they're out of the infant carrier. I found one other that did, but you have to move the seat itself, which takes time, effort, and can't be done with the child in the stroller. At one year old (when the baby outgrows the infant carrier), Mom is still the most interesting thing out there for most kids, and I want to be able to interact with my baby as I'm pushing him, vs. having him isolated from me and staring out at the world. The handle swivel mechanism is very easy to use, but locks in place with a nice, secure feel.

The one and only tradeoff with this stroller (for me) is the lack of a storage tray for drinks, keys, etc. Because the handle swivels over the stroller body to change the seat from facing inward to outward, they didn't put a tray on the handle. If it were me, I would have designed a reversible tray so that it worked from both directions, but they didn't. What they did do was provide one cup-holder that sits on the handle off to the side, and can swivel with the handle. For me, that's an acceptable trade-off, but it might be a deal-breaker for others.

This came with the stroller, carseat/carrier, and the stay-in-car carseat base. As with most products containing plastic products, this smelled when I first took it out of the box. I set it outside for a couple days to off-gas, and I'm going to wash the fabric parts before using...but the smell dissipated very quickly.

I just received this item. Putting the canopy on was no problem. The colors are as shown, red and black with gray. I love the removable boot (sleeping bag) for winter. I planned to use this car seat with my Bob Revolution stroller, and they are a perfect fit. This car seat is very easy to use and I like the 5 point harness. I would like to thank the seller for shipping to an APO address as well.
